@Burk My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner :-D
@martinfeld Well, it's unlike any other fountain pen ink that I have so yeah. It's actually a more subtle effect than I expected. Looks like a purple ink until it catches the light.
@pkra Hah! True. True. π
@dgold Are you sure you're talking about the same series? The Expanse is the one with Thomas Jane, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper among others. I wouldn't call the actors in the Expanse identikit pretty people. The cast is rather diverse, TBH.
I can understand not liking the first few episodes, though. It starts off rather muddled.
@eggfreckles Looking forward to it.
@fgtech My pleasure! π
@fgtech Yeah, I'm also sporting one of the classic before-they-ruined-it MacBook Pro models. These used to be awesome. Why'd they have to 'improve' it :-/
@tso Yeah. Pretty much.
@artkavanagh Yeah. Like you say, the state of iBooks is all the more frustrating because it could become an excellent app with just a bit more investment on Apple's part.
@JohnPhilpin Yeah, it doesn't feel exactly in character.
@JohnPhilpin Yeah. Personally, I think a bigger problem with Apple News, Apple News Plus, Apple TV and even iBooks is that all of Apple's media platforms seem half-baked and/or badly thought out.
@smokey Thanks. Yeah, those two are definitely growing on me. Much more so than the third one. Sometimes you just need a bit of time to get perspective :-)
@pkra Haha! Yeah. π
@pkra Hyphens look simple when you haven't given them any thought but turn out to be such a messy, complicated and involved problem
Browser hyphenation is often little more than a veneer of typography with no actual improvements in legibility or readability π
@twelvety Thanks!
@martinfeld Hello and thank you! π
@twelvety Yeah, I find a lot of what he suggests very appealing.
@smokey It is pretty good :-)
@martinfeld Hah! Yeah. That's a good point. I keep forgetting about his role in turning Pixar into a powerhouse :-D
@smokey Hah! Yeah. That doesn't surprise me at all.
@tso CSS element() was first added in Firefox 4. It isn't new. And displaying an embedded SVG is very much not what it does.
CSS is great and it's only gotten simpler, IMO. A combination of CSS Grid, custom properties and flexbox has let me jettison so much complexity and hacks from my stylesheets.
@fgtech Yeah. Exactly.
@tomasino ππ
@tomasino It's a micro.blog thing. Because it is a separate implementation of ActivityPub it does a few things differently. It actually worries me a bit because I keep expecting it to blow up and stop working π
