That “isn’t this funny” story that’s going around involving a horse that got loose on a freight plane is both weirder and less funny than you think.
The horse died. And the airline is Icelandic. As if we aren’t in the news enough these days.

“Don’t read the comments” is one of those rules that is sometimes great, sometimes causes you to miss out on good stuff.
But it definitely applies to Youtube videos on the events in Grindavík. So many assholes.
Also, so many auto-generated spam comments. More than I see usually 🤷🏻♂️

I’ve been following the discourse around HTML Web Components and it strikes me that quite a few web devs just don’t have any experience with things like HTML template partials or serverside template rendering in general

This whole “will there be an eruption or not” situation is distracting
Unfortunately, it’s likely successor—“an eruption is spewing ash and gas all over the south and southwest of Iceland”—isn’t likely to be less distracting
But at least people and animals are safe.

I got into reading books on improv a while back because I found the ideas helpful with both writing and collaboration.
The video in this feed shows how extensive the damage to Grindavík is.
Half the town sank by an entire metre and seems to still be sinking. (The steam is from broken pipes.)
Looks like volunteers managed to rescue from Grindavík today:
- 49 cats
- 4 hamsters
- 90 pigeons
- as well as sheep, parrots, and a few frogs
(IIRC, many of the sheep, horses, and hens were rescued yesterday)
Looks like they managed to rescue most of the remaining animals and the ones that remain on the list might have been rescued by the owners without notifying the organisation managing the list

Hearing about a company that’s switched over to Microsoft Authenticator for all of their company accounts and, wow, does that sound like the most dysfunctional authentication system I’ve ever heard about. So badly designed.
