What are people’s impressions of Ghost these days? I seem to recall talk about the software being okay but a few having a bad experience with support?
“The balance has shifted away from SPAs - Read the Tea Leaves”
What can I say except that I totally, 100%, agree with Nolan here.
“Experimental: components - Playwright”
Looks useful. Thought quite weird that it does not seem to support web components or regular JS components. Though I suppose you could wrap it to follow Svelte’s mount API.
“The startup slump may be a blessing in disguise”
Gonna see a lot of acquihires or crypto pivots in the coming months. Startup grifters gotta grift.
“Deep Dive into Text Wrapping and Word Breaking / Coder’s Block”
“Glitch acquired by cloud service provider Fastly”
I have confessed to an anti-Glitch bias in the past (it gives me such a strong SixApart vibe) but I hope that this isn’t a prelude to an “our incredible journey” entry
“Readability: The Optimal Line Length – Articles – Baymard Institute”
“Hog Bay Software – Bike: Tool for thought”
I’d definitely try this out if I were still a macOS user.
“The Surprising Truth About Pixels and Accessibility: should I use pixels or rems?”
So, turns out Joe Lycett and Bill Bailey were in my neck of woods (I live in Hveragerði) this winter. Seem to have had a nice and cozy breakfast 🙂
Yesterday, I published “The different kinds of notes”
Which would be the post where I outline my general theory of notetaking, based on the research I’ve been doing, for all to disagree with 🙂
“The Blanc Media 8-Week Work Cycle with Sabbaticals — The Focus Course”
I know of a few companies that are using this cycle. Some successfully. Some not, though I’m guessing that other dysfunctions are to blame there
Interesting. Often to get accurate bitmap renders of SVG you end up loading a whole headless browser
“Angelheaded Hipsters Burning for the Ancient Heavenly Connection”
On Twitter.
It’s beginning to look a bit like spring around here.
“Test in many browsers - hidde.blog”
I’ve been using Playwright to test in multiple browser engines and it works quite well.
“Let’s call it the “Cascade of Attention-Deficit Teenagers” model, or “CADT” for short.”
An almost 20 years’ old post but still accurate.
“The Demise of the Mildly Dynamic Website”
I have some thoughts on this.
I’m beginning to think that complex note-taking systems that supposedly make you smarter actually do the opposite: they fog your thinking by shifting process and pattern recognition into overdrive
At the very least, I’m not sold on the value of complexity in note-taking
