Sounds pretty accurate to me.

How are folks who support Web Mentions handling spam mentions? (I’m assuming there’s spam, there’s always spam.) Is everybody using Vouch? Moderating? Akismet?

(No reason for the question, just suddenly became curious as I was reading up on IndieWeb for other reasons.)

If I am to be honest, the thing that scares me the most about the web dev community today is that so many seem insistent that those of us who eschew React and frameworks for practical reasons are archaic and bad at our jobs.

And before anybody replies with ‘but that isn’t what anybody’s saying’ or something along those lines.

Yes. Yes, people are actually saying this.

I’ve had several IRL conversations where people said that making websites without frameworks is error-prone and unsafe and should be avoided. Usually those people either hadn’t been born or were still in their diapers when I made my first website.

(This ended up being way more ‘angry old man shouting at clouds’ than intended. Oh, well 😁)

Random thought:

a. software dev lies at the intersection of tech and arts & humanities. b. the other industry at that intersection is fashion c. the two industries have similar dynamics d. comparing the history of fashion with the history of software would be a very fun project
